Laser Cutting

Metcom has two Cincinnati CL-707 single axis Laser Cutting machines. They incorporate the latest linear motor drive, motion control systems, electronics, beam delivery, fiber optic communications and software technologies.

These machines outperform punch presses and conventional lasers when cutting a wide range of materials and thickness. Laser cutting is superior to traditional ways of manufacturing because it provides speed and precision.

Laser cutting systems provide the following tangible benefits:

Metcom can cut mild steel, stainless steels, nickel alloys, aluminum and also plastics. We cannot cut the red metals (i.e. coppers, brass, and bronze) as they are too reflective to be laser cut.

Our lasers can cut up to a 5' x 10' sheet of material with cutting capabilities of up to 5/8 steel and general tolerances of +/- 0.005".  Each part we cut is unique in its material composition, thickness and geometry, so each item must be reviewed on a case by case basis.

By using laser technologies, we are able to create parts quickly and cost effectively. There is no tooling due to the fact that it's simply computer programming.  The laser is able to accurately cut and reproduce the design.
